Fern and Will spent one unforgettable day together and promised to meet again in a year; he never showed. Nearly a decade later, as Fern runs her late mother's Ontario lakeside resort, Will reappears. Carley Fortune's second-chance romance moves between the two timelines. It was an instant #1...

One perfect day in Toronto, two strangers - Fern, adrift after art school, and Will, sweet and searching - fall into an intense, unspoken connection and vow to meet again in a year. He does not come. Nearly a decade later, grieving her mother and reluctantly running the family's cottage-country resort, Fern opens the door to find Will on her step. Carley Fortune's bestselling second-chance romance alternates between that golden lost day and the complicated present, unspooling why he vanished and whether the spark can survive real life. Fortune writes the Ontario lake setting with evocative warmth and handles her characters' grief and disappointment with a lightness that never tips into fluff. It is an emotional, atmospheric summer romance built on longing and the ache of the road not taken. For readers who love second-chance love stories, dual timelines and a strong sense of place, this instant #1 bestseller is a satisfying, tender escape - ideal for a dock and a long afternoon.
