Community and Moderation Guidelines
Key Disclosures
- intendle is a professional art community. Strong criticism and disagreement are permitted; threats, discriminatory attacks, harassment, deception, and coordinated abuse are not.
- Users may report content, accounts, and listings through the relevant platform function.
- Moderation decisions are documented and normally communicated with reasons.
- An affected user receives an appeal route unless an exception is required for safety, fraud prevention, security, legal process, or investigative integrity.
- intendle does not guarantee reach, Discover placement, or continued visibility of any content.
1. Purpose
These Guidelines explain the standards intendle uses to maintain a professional, lawful, and usable community and the process followed when content, conduct, or a commercial listing is reported or reviewed.
The Services are operated by intendle ("intendle," "we," "us," or "our"). The operator's registered legal details are available on request via legal@intendle.com.
The Acceptable Use Policy contains the enforceable prohibited-content and prohibited-conduct rules. These Guidelines explain how those rules are applied in community context. The Terms of Service, Seller Agreements, Copyright and DMCA Policy, Verification Policy, and transaction policies may also apply.
2. Community Standard
intendle supports artists, authors, performers, models, publishers, galleries, organizations, businesses, collectors, readers, and audiences. Users are expected to communicate professionally, describe their work honestly, respect intellectual property and personal boundaries, and use reporting systems in good faith.
intendle is not required to make every space neutral or controversy-free. Art, criticism, journalism, cultural debate, and professional disagreement may be challenging. Moderation focuses on methods and risks—such as threats, harassment, deception, discrimination, infringement, and unlawful trade—not on shielding a person or institution from all criticism.
3. Editorial Content and User Content
Articles are written and published by intendle. User profiles, posts, comments, portfolios, listings, and messages are user content. Different responsibilities apply to each.
A user may criticize an intendle article or another user's work, but may not use threats, targeted abuse, fabricated accusations presented as fact, doxxing, or another prohibited method.
4. Authentic Identity and Representation
Users must provide truthful account information and must not impersonate a person, artist, author, gallery, publisher, organization, or intendle representative. A representative must have authority to act for the represented party.
Pseudonyms or professional names may be displayed where permitted, but the underlying Account and any Seller verification must remain truthful.
5. Respectful Participation
Users should:
- address the work, idea, statement, or professional conduct rather than attacking protected characteristics;
- avoid repeated unwanted contact;
- respect a clear request to stop non-essential private communication;
- avoid posting private personal information;
- disclose material commercial relationships where required; and
- use the order channel for transaction disputes so the record remains available.
6. Criticism, Reviews, and Disagreement
Direct, negative, or rigorous criticism is permitted when expressed as opinion, supported factual analysis, or good-faith commentary. A person may state that a work is unsuccessful, derivative, overpriced, poorly presented, or historically problematic.
The following methods are not protected merely because they appear in a review or criticism:
- a credible threat;
- discriminatory degradation;
- repeated targeted insults or sexual comments;
- fabricated evidence;
- publication of private information;
- coordinated harassment;
- knowingly false claims presented to obtain money or platform action; or
- infringement of another person's copyright or image rights.
7. Self-Promotion and Relevance
Self-promotion is a legitimate intendle function. Users may publish their own work, books, profiles, exhibitions, performances, services, and professional activity where the feature allows it.
Promotion becomes abusive when it is automated, repetitive, deceptive, irrelevant to the conversation, placed through mass unsolicited messages, or used to manipulate engagement or avoid a required seller process.
8. Artworks That May Not Be Sold
The following may not be listed for sale in the Marketplace:
- copies, replicas, or forgeries of another artist's work;
- AI-generated work of any kind;
- stolen work, or work the Seller has no right to sell;
- work not made by the Seller or by an artist the Seller represents; and
- illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit content.
When listing an artwork, the Seller confirms that the Seller made it, or represents the artist who made it, and that it is not AI-generated. AI-generated work may not be presented as handmade anywhere on intendle.
9. Commercial Listings
Marketplace and Books listings must be accurate, lawful, and supported by the required rights. Verification of a Seller does not authenticate an item or guarantee performance. A listing may be restricted promptly where there is credible evidence of infringement, counterfeit material, unlawful trade, fraud, material misdescription, or safety risk.
Commercial disputes should be handled through order messages and the applicable return, shipping, and payment processes.
10. How to Report
A user may use the report function associated with content, a profile, a message, or a listing. The report should identify:
- the exact content or Account;
- the rule believed to be violated;
- the relevant context;
- any supporting image, document, URL, order number, or message; and
- whether there is an urgent safety, fraud, or legal risk.
Copyright notices must use the Copyright and DMCA Policy. Privacy requests must use the Privacy Policy contact. intendle is not an emergency service. A person facing immediate danger should contact local emergency services.
11. Intake and Triage
intendle may classify a report by subject, urgency, affected feature, applicable policy, and legal risk. Priority may be given to:
- credible threats or imminent physical harm;
- child exploitation or non-consensual intimate content;
- security compromise or account takeover;
- ongoing fraud or payment risk;
- unlawful or restricted trade;
- active infringement affecting a sale or portfolio;
- doxxing or exposure of highly sensitive information; and
- conduct affecting an open order or held payout.
Priority does not determine the ultimate outcome.
12. Review Standard
A moderator should review the reported material in context and consider:
- the exact words, image, listing, or conduct;
- the user's apparent purpose and the reasonably foreseeable effect;
- artistic, documentary, journalistic, educational, historical, critical, or satirical context;
- whether the material targets a person or protected group;
- whether there is consent or authorization;
- the reliability of evidence;
- severity, repetition, and prior decisions;
- transaction, payment, or safety risk; and
- mandatory legal or payment-provider requirements.
intendle should apply materially similar rules consistently while recognizing that context may justify different outcomes.
13. Possible Outcomes
Depending on the facts, intendle may:
- take no action;
- request clarification, evidence, labeling, or correction;
- issue an educational notice or warning;
- reduce or remove visibility from a specific surface;
- disable or remove content;
- pause publishing, messaging, buying, selling, verification, or payout functions;
- temporarily suspend the Account;
- permanently terminate the Account; or
- preserve or disclose information where lawfully required.
Immediate restrictive action may be used when delay creates a material safety, fraud, security, payment, infringement, or legal risk.
14. Reasoned Notice
intendle will normally tell the affected user:
- what action was taken;
- which content, listing, or function was affected;
- the policy basis;
- the principal facts or evidence relied upon;
- the duration, if temporary;
- what correction is available; and
- how and by when to appeal.
Notice may be limited where disclosure would endanger a person, facilitate evasion or fraud, reveal protected security information, violate law, breach another person's rights, or compromise an investigation.
15. Appeals
An affected user may appeal through the channel identified in the decision notice and should explain the alleged error, provide relevant context, and submit any new evidence.
Appeal filing deadline: 30 days Target review period: within 14 days
Where practical, a person who did not make the original decision should review the appeal. The appeal decision must be recorded and communicated with reasons.
16. Repeat Violations
Repeated violations may lead to progressively stronger measures. intendle considers severity, similarity, time between incidents, intent, correction, and prior warnings. Copyright repeat infringement follows the Copyright and DMCA Policy.
A Seller who lists a prohibited artwork (Section 8) receives a strike. Each strike blocks the Seller's shop and profile:
- first strike: blocked for 15 days;
- second strike: blocked for 2 months;
- third strike: blocked permanently.
While a block is in force, the shop and profile are not visible, and the Seller cannot add artworks, publish posts, or make new sales. If the Seller has open orders, the block begins once those orders are completed; until then the shop accepts no new sales. Strikes are not reset by time. Subscription fees are not refunded.
A single severe violation may justify immediate termination even without prior warnings.
17. Business-Seller Complaints
A commercial Seller may use the appeal and complaint route stated in the decision notice. Where laws applicable to online intermediation services require additional reasons, notice periods, internal complaint handling, or mediation information, intendle will provide those rights.
18. Reporting-Party Information
A reporter may receive confirmation that the report was reviewed, but intendle may not disclose private account, investigation, security, legal, or enforcement information. Where applicable law requires a statement of reasons or outcome, intendle will provide it to the entitled party.
19. Recordkeeping
intendle records moderation decisions, reasons, affected content, reviewer, date and time, notices, appeals, and outcomes. Moderation decisions are retained permanently, subject to any legal exception.
20. No Guarantee of Visibility
intendle may determine eligibility for Discover, search, category pages, recommendations, profile display, or other surfaces according to published rules and platform operation. No user is guaranteed reach, ranking, placement, followers, engagement, or continued visibility.
21. Changes to These Guidelines
A revised version will display a new version and Last Updated date. Where renewed acceptance or business-user advance notice is required, intendle will provide it before the revised rule becomes binding.
