Shipping Policy
Key Disclosures
- intendle does not store, pack, ship, deliver, or insure Seller-listed physical items. The Seller is responsible for fulfillment.
- Shipping charges, handling time, estimated transit time, tracking availability, and insurance information must be displayed before purchase.
- A Marketplace artwork checkout is limited to one Seller. Another Seller requires a separate checkout with separate shipping terms and charges.
- International customs duties, import taxes, brokerage charges, and similar destination charges are generally the Buyer’s responsibility unless law or checkout states otherwise.
- Carrier and tracking-number entry is a fulfillment obligation where tracking applies. It does not control Stripe's payout of Marketplace artwork proceeds.
1. Scope and Parties
This Policy applies to printed books, artworks, and other physical items purchased from Sellers through intendle. Digital books are delivered electronically and are not governed by the physical-shipping provisions below.
The Services are operated by intendle ("intendle," "we," "us," or "our"). The operator's registered legal details are available on request via legal@intendle.com.
For each physical item, the Seller is responsible for shipment to the Buyer. intendle provides the interface through which shipping settings, order information, and tracking details are recorded and displayed. intendle is not the carrier, warehouse, packing service, freight forwarder, customs broker, insurer, or insurance intermediary.
2. Seller Shipping Configuration
Before an item can be purchased, the Seller must configure the shipping terms for each supported destination. Those terms include:
- destination countries or regions;
- available shipping method for each destination;
- shipping price;
- handling or preparation time before dispatch;
- estimated carrier transit time;
- whether tracking is included;
- whether insurance is included and the stated maximum coverage; and
- any lawful size, weight, customs, or carrier restriction.
A Seller must not offer a destination or method that the Seller cannot lawfully and reasonably fulfill.
3. Information Displayed Before Payment
Before the Buyer confirms payment, intendle must display the shipping charge, estimated delivery period including handling time, tracking availability, insurance information, Seller identity, and any destination-specific warning available in the Seller's configuration.
Delivery estimates are estimates supplied or selected by the Seller. They are not guarantees by intendle.
4. Separate Checkout and Shipping by Seller
A cart may temporarily contain items from multiple Sellers, but a Marketplace artwork checkout accepts items from one Seller only. The Buyer must complete another checkout for another Seller. Each checkout displays that Seller's shipping charge and creates a separate fulfillment obligation.
Separate Sellers are never required to combine packages, use the same carrier, ship on the same date, or deliver at the same time.
5. Handling and Dispatch
The Seller must prepare and dispatch the item within the handling period stated to the Buyer and no later than seven days after payment. intendle reminds the Seller when a paid order has not shipped after seven days; that reminder does not replace a shorter handling promise shown at checkout.
If the Seller cannot dispatch within the stated period, the Seller must notify the Buyer through the order without delay and provide an accurate revised estimate. A Buyer retains any mandatory cancellation, non-delivery, or refund rights.
6. Packaging Standards
The Seller must use packaging reasonably appropriate for the item's size, weight, material, fragility, value, route, climate exposure, and handling risks. The Seller should follow applicable carrier requirements and professional practices for the item category.
Without limiting the Seller's responsibility:
- glass, ceramics, glazed work, framed work, and other fragile objects require adequate internal separation and impact protection;
- sculpture, furniture, metalwork, and heavy items require secure immobilization and appropriate load-bearing packaging;
- works sensitive to moisture, abrasion, temperature, or bending require suitable protective layers;
- jewelry and small valuable items require secure containment and tamper-resistant outer packaging; and
- printed books require protection from moisture, crushing, and edge damage.
A Seller must not misstate the package's contents or value on a shipping or customs document.
7. Address Information
The Buyer must provide a complete and accurate delivery address and contact information. The Seller must use the address associated with the finalized order unless intendle and the Seller approve a documented change through a secure process.
A request to redirect a high-value order outside the recorded order channel may indicate fraud. The Seller should not accept an address change solely through an unverified external message.
A delivery address may be changed after payment as long as the change is made through the order before dispatch. Once the item has been dispatched the address can no longer be changed. Items may be shipped as a gift to a different recipient.
8. Tracking
Where tracking is included or required, the Seller must enter both the carrier and a valid tracking number. intendle stores and displays the information but does not automatically query the carrier for shipment status.
A tracking number does not itself prove that the correct item was placed in the package, that the package was delivered to the correct person, or that the item arrived undamaged.
9. Shipping Records and Stripe Payouts
For Marketplace artwork sales, the Buyer charge is made directly on the Seller's Stripe connected account. Stripe controls balance availability and payout timing. intendle does not hold or release the proceeds and does not use carrier or tracking entry as a payout switch.
The Seller must still enter accurate carrier and tracking information when tracking applies. Missing or false shipping information may trigger reminders, fulfillment restrictions, a buyer claim, refund review, dispute handling or account enforcement.
Shipping status does not determine Stripe payout status, the Buyer's delivery rights or the legal transfer of risk, and it does not make intendle the shipper.
10. Insurance
The Seller decides whether to purchase shipment insurance and must disclose whether insurance is included and the stated coverage limit. Any insurance contract is between the Seller and the carrier or insurer. intendle does not sell, arrange, underwrite, guarantee, or decide insurance claims.
A statement that shipping is insured does not expand the Buyer's rights beyond applicable law or the Seller's contract, and a carrier's denial does not automatically eliminate the Seller's responsibility to the Buyer.
11. International Shipping, Customs, and Import Charges
International shipments may be subject to customs inspection, duties, import VAT or GST, brokerage charges, handling charges, cultural-property controls, wildlife restrictions, and other destination requirements.
Unless mandatory law or checkout expressly states otherwise, the Buyer is responsible for destination-country duties, taxes, and charges that are not collected at checkout. The Seller is responsible for accurate and lawful export and customs documentation allocated to the Seller.
intendle does not guarantee that an item can be imported or exported. A Seller must not ship an item whose cross-border movement is prohibited or requires documentation that has not been obtained.
12. Restricted Destinations and Sanctions
intendle, Stripe, the Seller, or a carrier may refuse or restrict a shipment to comply with sanctions, export controls, payment rules, carrier restrictions, or other law. The Seller and Buyer must not attempt to evade a restriction by misdescribing the item, destination, recipient, value, or transaction.
13. Delays
Weather, customs, labor disruption, carrier capacity, security inspections, natural disasters, war, civil disorder, incorrect addresses, and other events may delay delivery. The Seller must communicate material known delays through the order.
intendle does not guarantee a delivery date and is not liable for a carrier's delay except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be excluded. Mandatory Buyer rights against the Seller remain unaffected.
14. Non-Delivery
The Buyer should review tracking and contact the Seller through the order. The Seller must investigate and provide evidence of dispatch and delivery. intendle may review the order record, handling time, carrier, tracking number, and platform messages.
15. Damage in Transit
The Buyer should photograph the unopened package where possible, the shipping label, all packaging layers, and the item, and should preserve the materials. The Seller is responsible for pursuing any carrier or insurance claim unless a different lawful arrangement applies.
The Seller and Buyer should not dispose of evidence until the claim process no longer requires it.
16. Undeliverable, Refused, or Unclaimed Shipments
A package may be returned because of an inaccurate address, refusal, unpaid destination charge, failed delivery attempts, or failure to collect it. The parties' rights depend on the reason, applicable law, and the Seller's pre-contract disclosures.
Where a shipment is returned undelivered or refused, the cost is borne by whichever party caused it. If responsibility is unclear, the matter goes to the dispute process.
17. Returns
A return must follow the Refund and Returns Policy, which allows a return within 14 days after delivery. The Buyer and Seller should coordinate the carrier, packaging, customs documentation, insurance, and destination before returning a fragile, high-value, oversized, restricted, or international item.
18. Changes to This Policy
A revised Policy will display a new version and Last Updated date. Changes do not retroactively alter an order's disclosed shipping terms or mandatory rights unless law requires otherwise.
