Molly Gray is a hotel maid who takes literal pride in her work and struggles to read social cues. When she discovers a wealthy guest dead in his suite, her unusual manner makes her a prime suspect, and she must enlist unlikely allies to clear her name. Nita Prose's debut won the 2022 Goodreads...
Molly the maid loves her job at the Regency Grand, where a room restored to perfection is its own kind of justice - but her literal mind and difficulty reading people leave her badly exposed when she finds a guest dead in his bed and becomes the obvious suspect. Nita Prose's hugely popular debut is a warm-hearted whodunit built around a narrator whose neurodivergent candor is its greatest pleasure and, at times, its sharpest tool. The mystery is nimble and fairly clued, but the book's real subject is how easily the world misjudges those who don't perform normalcy, and how loyalty can arrive from unexpected quarters. Prose writes with charm and a light social conscience, keeping the tone gentle even as the stakes rise. For readers who want a mystery that is clever, kind and quietly moving, Molly Gray is wonderful company - proof that a cozy can have real heart without loosening its grip.
