My Name Is Barbra is the autobiography of the singer, actor and director Barbra Streisand, published by Viking in November 2023. The roughly 970-page book recounts her career across music, film and theatre. It was an international bestseller, and its author-narrated audiobook won the 2025 Audie...
At nearly a thousand pages, My Name Is Barbra is as expansive and exacting as its author, and that is exactly its appeal. Barbra Streisand narrates six decades of American entertainment from the inside - the Brooklyn beginnings, the Broadway breakthrough, the films she fought to direct, the sexism she met at every turn. She is famous for control, and the memoir is granular, opinionated and often very funny about the collaborators and critics she has known. intendle recommends it for lovers of show business and for anyone interested in how an ambitious woman built and defended a singular career. The audiobook, read by Streisand across some forty-eight hours, won the Audie Audiobook of the Year, and the book was an international bestseller. Long is the point: this is a complete accounting, delivered on her own terms, by one of the few true EGOT legends in the business.
